FOCUS

In my last post, I discussed the importance of speed upon the ultimate outcome of the often nebulous term called success. Which I define as the development of the power with which to get whatever one wants in life without interfering with the rights of others. Today I would like to discuss a concept that is quite possibly more vital in the attainment of that success. That concept as the title would suggest is an acronym called FOCUS, or Follow One Course Until Success.

It is important to grasp this as oftentimes we conflate multi-tasking with efficiency; with going after multiple goals at the same time as a quick fix to shorten the time horizon to reach our ultimate goal. This is a farce. Multi-tasking is the most efficient way to fundamentally undermine the quality of multiple tasks at the same. Inevitably you will miss the small details, and these small details are frequently the ones that count the most.

Success demands that you concentrate on one thing at a time because paradoxically this is the most efficient means of shortening that big time horizon. In the words of Alexander Graham Bell the inventor of the telephone: "Concentrate all your thoughts upon the work at hand. The sun's rays do not burn until brought to a focus."

So, approach each task today with controlled neurosis until completion, then like an F1 car shift gears fast and repeat the process.
