It's no secret that adolescent obesity is a problem in Western countries. As a matter of fact, it has become so prolific, that obesity is nearly a societal expectation. You see it nearly every time you leave home. Sad sights indeed, but what is being done about it? White bread is replaced with whole grains in cafeterias. Students are forced into physical education classes where the only education is peer-to-peer about the gossip in vogue. These statements raise a question. Are schools abdicating their duty, or, are they merely checking boxes in a conveyor belt system?
Either case doesn't change the problem. After spending years stumbling through diets, training programs, and injuries, I saw a sliver of light at the end of the tunnel. One state title in powerlifting later, I started a coaching company called RedLineTrain. Over the next six months, dozens of young men from around the globe gained access to my knowledge and services pro bono. They - often for the first time - experienced traction. A realization that with the right tools, they were in control of their bodies. Out of necessity for time to complete my schooling, I ultimately closed the doors in this organization.
Post mortem, like a leaky faucet, questions previously answered kept trickling in. "This is ridiculous. Does no one listen to what I say? Honestly," I told myself. "it would save me time to write a book at this point." What started as a sarcastic quip evolved into an endeavor lasting over a year.
Today, I am exceedingly proud that Strength By Design is at least a partial solution, to the aforementioned, systemic problem. An approachable guide, and handy reference to the weight room and the kitchen. Beneath the cover, you will find cutting-edge concepts distilled into digestible passages. The clarity of decision trees and matrixes cuts through the obscurity of guesswork and leaves the reader with one job - work.
